Stephen Beaman brings a wealth of experience and talent to Aspen Counseling and Consulting, LLC. He has a MS degree in Counseling/Clinical Psychology from Abilene (Texas) Christian University and a MSW degree from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a retired school psychologist. He has worked in the counseling field for more than 20 years and values providing individualized care to his clients and their families. He provides individual, marital and family therapeutic services. He particularly enjoys working with children, teens, their parents and athletes.



Claire Best

Clare Best, MS, LCPC, CDVP
Specialty areas: Domestic violence

Clare works with individuals and families, including children and adolescents. Her primary focus involves working with families experiencing trauma, especially domestic abuse. Clare is a certified Domestic Violence Professional and has worked in this field for more than eight years. Clare is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association. Her approach to treatment is holistic and tailored to each individual.



Tom Butler

Tom Butler, MS, LCPC, CADC, MISA-I
Specialty areas: EAP therapy

Tom has 15 years of experience working with patients who have co-occurring disorders, with a focus on addictions and trauma. Tom uses Multiple Channel Exposure Therapy (M-CET), a research-based therapy developed by Dr. Sherry Falsetti for treating PTSD/Panic Attack symptoms. He believes in the individual’s ability to make positive changes despite serious addiction and mental health challenges. Tom understands the difficulty clients face in making these changes and uses cognitive behavioral and client-centered therapies. Tom is a member of the American Counseling Association. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northern Illinois University and his graduate studies at National Louis University.



Susan Hofstetter

Susan Hoffstetter, MS, LCPC, CADC
Specialty areas: Substance abuse, mood and personality disorders

Susan has extensive experience working with adults and families with substance abuse, mood disorders and personality disorders.  Susan obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Judson College in Human Services/ Counseling and a Master of Science degree from National Louis University in Human Services/Counseling. Susan uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, and is client-centered.



Melanie Lindblade

Melanie is a talented therapist with more than 14 years’ experience working with dually diagnosed adolescents and adults.  Melanie also is a skilled family therapist and demonstrates an excellent ability to work with adolescents. In addition to having a wealth of knowledge regarding substance abuse, dependence and mental health diagnoses, Melanie has specialized in working with patients with eating disorders.



Karyn Bohl Martin

Karyn brings to Aspen more than 20 years of clinical experience with children, adolescents and adults. She is a certified EMDR therapist specializing in trauma and abuse, PTSD, and recurring negative thoughts/emotions. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor specializing in addictions and co-dependency. Karyn is also skilled in treatment for depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders. She works well with families and on relationship/marital issues with a focus on health/chronic pain and grief/loss. Karyn uses a holistic, empowerment-based approach in helping patients reach their goals.



Franny Morken

Franny Morken, MS, LCPC, NCC
Specialty areas: Play therapy, adolescent therapy, infertility counseling, DBT

Franny has nearly eight years of experience working with children, adolescents and dually diagnosed adults in both individual and group therapy, along with experience in infertility counseling.  Franny is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Board Certified Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Franny has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other evidence- based practices. Franny takes a cognitive behavioral and holistic approach to therapy, and she believes in empowering individuals through their own inner strength and skill development to face challenges and make desired changes.



Craig Riehle

Specialty areas: Couples and family counseling

Craig brings to Aspen a wealth of knowledge regarding couples and family therapy.  Craig has been working in the behavioral health field for over 15 years and has a background in primary substance abuse treatment.  Craig utilizes a solution-focused approach and possesses a strong grasp of cognitive behavioral therapy.  His areas of specialty include couples therapy, family therapy and comprehensive assessment.



Steve Smith

Stephen has extensive experience working with individuals and families dealing with addictions, mental health problems, life skills development, LGBT issues and life issues specific to young adults.  He also serves as an employee assistance program counselor and provides Department of Transportation Assessments for substance abuse-related problems.  Stephen completed his undergraduate studies at Western Illinois University and his graduate studies at National Louis University.  Stephen is also an experienced trainer on various topics and has conducted educational seminars and trainings both regionally and nationally.



Robert Tutt

Bob has worked with both adolescents and adults in individual therapy, family and group therapy.  His primary focus has been substance dependence.  Bob is a member of both the American Counseling Association and the Illinois Counseling Association.  Using a variety of techniques, Bob will work to individualize care.  His approach is very client centered, and care is tailored to meet the needs of each individual.  Bob specializes in substance abuse and chemical addictions, stress, anxiety and senior care consultation
